I've been back in Amarillo for a few years to help out my Mom, Jeanne, and get her relocated into an assisted living home for memory care. After a rocky start (a second move and then a broken wrist with subsequent nerve damage), she seems to have finally stabilized. The aides love her and she is still her funny, acerbic self and says some amazingly incomprehensible things.
I'm now thinking of relocating to be closer to my dear nephews down in Austin. I know, I know, everyone says "don't move to Austin" as its already overcrowded, but I will if it works out. Or back to the western slope of Colorado, that will always be my favorite place.
Yes, the big 6-0 approaches on 10/9; I'm kind of looking forward to such a grand milestone. I wish I had my youthful body, though, the years have been pretty tough on my frame.
